"A brand is a person’s gut feeling about a product, service, or company. It’s not what YOU say it is. It’s what THEY say it is."

Marty Neumeier — The Brand Gap

Chris Nunn, designer, thinker and lover of great Southern barbecue

Hi, I'm Chris Nunn, an independent designer and consultant. I've contracted with agencies and clients in different industries, providing web design, graphic design, digital solutions, messaging, brand identity design, art direction and more. I'm currently located in the Atlanta metro area. As a member of a team, I prefer to work remotely, but I can also be available onsite if needed. As a solo consultant, I usually partner with clients to take projects from start to finish, but I also have a talented network of creatives and techs I can call on when the scope requires.

Creative from The Start

Creativity and I go back a looong way. As a child, I was rarely caught without some kind of marking apparatus in my hand, along with a clean sheet of paper. A typical weekend usually included Saturday morning cartoons, action figures, and re-creating a science experiment I'd seen Mr. Wizard or Bill Nye perform on TV. The messier, the better. That perfect blend of imagination, creativity and curiosity has stuck with me, shaping a very adaptable thought and research process that I can employ to solve virtually any problem that's brought to me.

My Thought Process

Once a problem, materials, and variables are set out in front of me, I'm going into MacGyver mode to make things happen, even if it means calling in some reinforcements from my network to do the things I can't. Legend has it, I once figured out how to get an obsolete non-standard 1970s furnace to communicate with a modern circuit board so my family could have heat one winter. And some say that years later, that flame sensor rod I bought wholesale is still zip-tied inside that furnace, providing us with some of the coziest winter nights ever experienced in the western hemisphere. Now, imagine that furnace is your project, budget and timeline. I think you get the idea.

I love to help

One of the biggest rewards of a strategy well-done is the sense of clarity and excitement everyone in the room has when the vision comes together in tangible form. It's empowering for stakeholders, boosts the credibility of the project manager, and plain makes me happy because I genuinely love seeing good people win. Also, we have fun along the way. In fact, one of the hardest parts of my job has been putting a price tag on what I do because I have such an immense passion for helping dreams materialize. But since I have an amazing wife and two awesome sauce kids that eat food and like to go on adventures and stuff, I have to charge actual money. I know, right?

Business, my guilty pleasure

When you work with me, you get someone who's super nerdy, creative, and as giddy about your ROI and KPIs as you are. No — Like really. I'm just as passionate about business as I am about designing stuff and helping others. Some like Netflix. I turn to the many news feeds on my iPhone for entertainment. What that means is I'm going to be stoked when you're telling me about your plans to build brand equity in your business and about that quirky yet awesome philosophy that helped you grow your company into what it is today. Experience design should be more than just a user experience. It should also be a personal experience. Hopefully, we can have a few laughs and make a meaningful connection along the way as we work together.
